Discussing Decolonisation 2024/25 Summer Finale: Building the Movement

York St John's Discussing Decolonisation 2024/25 summer finale event will take place on campus and online, from 10am until 5pm on Wednesday 2nd July (see the schedule below for online/hybrid options).

The day will include an in-person workshop, hybrid panel discussion and livestreamed keynote by Dr Leon Moosavi (Liverpool), as well as plenty of time for networking, refreshments, and collective thinking and discussion.

The event is free and open to all, and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

Event schedule:

10.00–10.15: Arrivals and coffee

10.15-10.30: Opening remarks from series co-conveners, Lucy Potter and Dr Laura Key (in person only)

10.30-12.15: Session 1 –‘To Decolonise or not to Decolonise? Exploring Questions of Anti-colonialism and Anti-racism in Higher Education’: In-person workshop with Dr Sunita Abraham (Lancaster) and Dr Leon Moosavi (Liverpool) (in person only)

12.15-13.00: Lunch (provided)

13.00-15.00: Session 2 – ‘Discussing Decolonisation with PGR Collectives’: Online/hybrid panel discussion with postgraduate researchers (PGRs) from York, Bath and East London (hybrid)

15.00–15.15: Comfort break

15.15–16.45: Session 3 – ‘Decolonisation Under Attack: Pushback and Potential within Higher Education’: Livestreamed keynote from Dr Leon Moosavi (Liverpool) (hybrid)

16.45–17.00: Refreshments and networking

Please note this event is being hosted in person, in York, but online attendees will be able to join the panel discussion and keynote live via Microsoft Teams. Please select either 'in person' or 'online' when booking your place, and let us know ASAP if you need to change your ticket to help us manage numbers for catering.
